Six days and counting

No, it's not been nearly a week since I took off k-log. It's been that long that I have been playing host to an ungracious fever. And it just can’t make up its mind; its comings and goings have left me woozy. Thermometer, that stupid glass contraption refuses to behave itself in my presence too. It steadfastly denies stop to the mercury at a normal human body temperature level. It either gets stuck at 96/97 F or goes all the way up to 102/103 F. Add a kaput BP apparatus to the scene, employed to identify and measure my blood pressure level, and I am all set for preservation in a museum of medical sciences. That bad is sub-normal that is normal for this mortal. 120/80 for me is high blood pressure; at 98.4 F I run a fever. Obviously ice cold press has to be slapped onto my forehead each time the thermometer reads 103 as technically it means 104. Five clammy presses later I reach for the thermometer and have it plunked thrice in my mouth. Each time mercury refuses to budge past the neat 98.4 F mark. Each time my one woman hospital of a sister eyes me suspiciously and orders me to put it back. It’s so neatly normal my temp., OWHS thinks I have rigged it up. Imagine that! And I am force fed medicine. Which tastes terrible as medicine should. I am loathe to coughing for fear of downing more of that stupid syrup that does not seem to do its job at all. I sneak to work one day and return home with fever shot up and a BP level nose diving in search of some elusive plankton down the Mariana Trench.
This is not to say deleting k-log was an act carried out in a delirious, medicinally justifiable bout of insanity. There was some nearly one year’s worth of blogging accumulated on it. A delete action was long past due.
A restart does mean a new phase in life. A new phase in life does not equate with a change in the marital status. Next thing you know, I would mention some 3-4 mentionable phases of my life and jaws follow my BP level assuming I have been married as many times. Or not. I may have a gun pressed to my head when I send off emails to friends telling them how I finally capitulated into saying yes but announcing it here would be too, erm... -let's not get into that-
*cough cough*
In case you are still wondering, keep wondering, keep those grey cells at work.
I would be on the road this weekend again. Around Pakistan this time. If you have your ears sensitized to a dry, raking, wheezing, whopping, sneaking cough, that would be me, if not fully cured by the time I land in your city.

umm, well, i wouldnt know about those other mentionable phases (& no, I didnt let my jaw drop proportional to your BP)but I'm beginning to feel that this new phase just might be related to some worthy-of-mention,congratulatory-comment inducing, change for the better, etc etc (add more self-coined multi-word euphimisms for that yeh-to-hona-hi-tha occasion). So you'll be on the road for a moon-chasing trip?Or did I just get way carried off again, connecting entirely unrelated events...??!!If it really is what I think it is,then this is such a bad time to be bogged down with fever...??!!wish you an express,same-day delivery type get-well soon!
U know what shocked me d last time?well, long ago when i'd just started commenting, u moved to pak & rarely blogged, then u started again, & when i commented again, your blog dissapeared again...lol!

Moiz: yes, there seems to be a pettern, nahin? I meant about blog disappearances.
And your feelers are wrong. get them changed.
Your express delivery received with thanks. Let me tell you that I don't meet the conditions though but keep it all the same.
LOL indeed. The answer to your surmises is a NO. Please note and refrain from doubting my mettle hereon. I am not that lame.

Ok, Ok...my feelers werent right this time around (but does this mean that the earlier ideas that fortunately didnt offend you, are right??*insert tongue teasing smiley here*??)
& Y would someone have to be "lame" for that train of thought to be true...???!!& sorry for all that doubting...will try to refrain from future doubts/crazy ideas...but VL put me on the wrong route,na?

& no, i dont live here...just thot u might've replied fast like yesterday...

umm, so what was all that being "capitulated into saying yes " all about??yes to what???
& its nice how you tackled my comment in this post, without actually answering the question!!!you've learnt that from knicq bhai, havent you??

A said...

Moiz: What kind of times do you keep?
I did not learn it from Knicq Bhai, I just polished up my skills in his company. Actually one gets to perfect this skill while with him. It is soo easy to throw him any colored herring. not you though, perhpas you should seek his company for a while? Learn a lesson or two? You already display a knicqish trait to tear apart blogs, word by word. I can almost hear him coming round with 'Am I a legend/I am a legend'
Keep commenting/inquiring and I will keep skirting round the issue. And let VLady return from her exams!

Innocent VLady is here and is not happy at all but yes, worried & confused to the core.

Dear sister in Islam, you've shocked me. Writing about your perturbing state of health in such a seriously humorous manner, sigh, I'll, I think, at least smile reading the post days later when I'm sure you are in pink of health. It was a good piece of writing mashAllah, creative too, but so disturbing. InshAllah, you'll get well soon and my tauba, I'll not mention the M word again!

I, for some odd reasons, decided to take a break from studies and writing project reports by writing something awful and reading something good and thereby my decision to visit your blog to get a good doze of good posts, which often do serve to level my blood pressure.

And here I am, surprised. No K-Log song, just a lonely post. And where, I insist to be answered, is that wonderful K-layout?

Don't be so cruel to your readers. You've assassinates the posts (if posts could be assassinated), which I was thinking of publishing under my own name someday. There go all my dreams and I feel so very like Shiekh Chilli and it'll amuse you know perhaps that Chilli, in my mother language, means filthy.

Anyway, it seems I'm getting balmy, writing gibberesh. I wish to be forgiven and wish to be saved from all sorts of punishments. Exams are enough, I tell you.

With love and loads of prayers,

VLady

Six days of fever. And also working. And now on a national trip.

You have to be a wali, woman.

Keep on being force fed with those medicines of terrible taste. And get well the soonest.

P.S. Bhaijan is, indeed, a legend.

YOU SAID YES!!!!

gmail Details now!!!

Oh, and don't forget to get well soon, and pray do continue with those endorsements of my status as a legend.

Saadat and Moiz, Bro...you are geniuses...never thought I would be able to get anyone to agree with me on that count - the count about me being a genius.

I am now soooo tempted to get rid of this troublesome blog that people, legends and geniuses alike don't bother to read and jump to hasty pasty conclusions.
The only thing I agreed to, bhaisaab, is my mother's opinion that I am a nutter. And we both also agreed that we can't ever agree on my (in)decision to remain as I am, blissfully free. So, no gmails yet. I've got better work to attend to than send out missives announcing the loss of my freedom. Do you ever read what I write? Honestly!
VLady: Awww, you are such a sweetheart, thank you soo much. I have saved most of my blogs offline. want me to send out a choice selection for your reading pleasure. Not? How does k-log level your BP? Why is mine impervious to its leveling miracles/effects?
Saadat: I am a nutter. Wali? yeah sure, I am also Xena then. I am kind of well now. defeated fever. done with the anti-biotics course. Just have to take my multivitamins to get through the next two weeks now.
And legends? Yeah, he's been around, the legend that he is.

Knicq said...

oh, but you must forgive the legends for they are, after all, bogged down by work, not as good as you think at the firangi zubaan, salespeople...the viscosity of your prose finds it exceedingly difficult to seep through into the thickness legends have for a mind....that coupled with the fact that time shortage requires the viscous liquid to be poured onto this thickness, so as to ensure that if the whole cannot be absorbed at least part is got in through osmotic (Is there a word like that Jalali Baba?) processes...

Oh, and frankly, I think the usurping of that freedom that you so unremorsefully exploit to your own detriment might just do you good...it is this freedom that led to you leaving us and going back, to your repeated deleting of these blogs that we subject to akvetchish lashings so love to read, and to your other inexplicable sujourns in the land of spontaniety and knee-jerkiness.

A hubby dearest might just come in handy in keeping you in one place for long enough so your friends can celebrate two consecutive birthdays of yours with you, in stopping you from depriving your fans from your blogs, and in keeping you from those forays into the land of spontaniety and kneejerkiness...

You just wait until we get to Karachi...we shall join hands with Mum dearest and find you a hubby inm no time....:)

Knicq said...

Oh, and for the record....I do read your blogs always....

I don't comment on them when you hide behind Ghalib to repeat stuff I have, in my esteemed position of bhaisaab, told you not to write....

But, I read them all...

A: Sure, send me all that you can: she@virtuouslady.net and a copy to euphrosyne_eirene@yahoo.com. How does K-Log level my BP? The soothing music, the lovely tractor/rickshaw talks, and beautiful sarcastic remarks on politicians and your extensive vocabulary, mashAllah :)I never happen to leave your blog without learning a word or two :p And by BP, do you mean Boiling Point? ^_^

We actually used to tease our chemistry teacher.

Teachaahh: We will now try to find out the BP of the given alcohol...

Me: Blood Pressure of the given alcohol, madam?

SEE???!!!i KNEW there was a "yes" in there somewhere...!!!
so did u say a "yes" to the idea of walking down the aisle(finally,as your mommy wud have it), or did you say "yes" to the qazi himself???now you just have to post abt it...
imean if knicq bhai wonders, then who am i to rest my ...thoughts?
or maybe i'll just have to goad VL into elaborating...(i wish i could get to read that comment of her's where she'd mentioned that M-worrd, again). But i'm sure the rest of us would want U to speak up...
&,pray, do NOT give into the vahiyaat temptation of getting rid of this blog all over again...
-peace-
Knicq bhai, thankyou for recognising said geniuses!lol!hope you get back to blogging seriously, have been blurking at ur place, but something's missing there...& awk, where's that template u were working on??

Oh, VL, thankyou for letting the (that, yes,THAT) cat outta the bag...!!!

Knicq said...

Not fair. You can't edit parts of an update after comments have been sent out pertinent to those parts...or else, we should be able to amend our comments accordingly.

I am coming round with a stick and spanking anyone who insinuates a yes in any *that* way in my post.
I did not edit my post.
Oh what should I do to smother this hypothetical cat? Who put it in the bag to be let out in such a scandalous manner in the first place?
Stand up and come forward whoever you are. The PETA/RSPCA is waiting for a word with you.
